How Does International Vehicle Transport Work With EasyHaul?

Buying a car from an online auction is simple — choose a vehicle, set your bid, and watch to see if your bid wins. Most consumers worldwide are familiar with this procedure and can perform it effortlessly. Shipping a vehicle outside of the US may be new to some people, however.

EasyHaul can help you ship a car, truck, motorcycle, and other vehicles both across the US and internationally. Here is some basic information about international vehicle transport we want to share with you, along with a couple of shipping tips, so you can ship a car anywhere smoothly, at the best price possible, and without stress.

First steps

Before international vehicle transport, fill in our online quote calculator on EasyHaul.com. Note a destination point, add your address details, and don’t forget to leave your phone number, so that the driver who picks up your vehicle can contact you for details. The port your vehicle will depart from is chosen based on the fastest and least expensive route to the destination country.

Tip: The closer your car is to the designated US port, the less you’ll pay in shipping costs.

Shipping methods

Vehicles shipped within the United States are shipped by truck, whereas international shipments are shipped by ocean freightliner. Transporting a vehicle internationally by sea is the most affordable option.

When shipping internationally, you can choose a shipping method that’s best for your vehicle: RORO (roll-on, roll-off) or container shipping.

Container shipping is a safe and reliable way to deliver your car from the US to any other port. A container keeps it safe from damage connected to weather conditions. Container shipping, however, doesn’t have as many transporters available, so it may take time to schedule your shipment.

Tip: Container shipping is a great choice for expensive vehicles but is not cost-effective for regular cars, because of its high price.

RORO, or Roll-On, Roll-Off shipping speaks for itself. Your car is driven on to the vessel, parked in line with other cars, and secured to the vessel’s deck for transportation. You can save on costs if your destination country has different rates for RORO, but shipping this way may be less secure than container shipping. Still, customers who choose RORO shipping receive their vehicles at the destination port without problems. Your car also needs to meet certain requirements to qualify for RORO. Contact us if you’re considering RORO shipping and we’ll see if your vehicle is eligible.

Tip: If you mark your vehicle as drivable and it is not, additional costs or delays may be incurred.

Calculating the price

Sometimes, shipping across the sea involves some additional costs and fees. With EasyHaul, you can be sure that the shipping price will cover the following expenses:

  • Picking up from an auction
  • Delivery to a warehouse
  • Loading
  • US customs clearance
  • Documentation
  • Exporting to the port of destination.

There are, however, expenses which EasyHaul won’t cover. These are:

  • Auction fees
  • Driver wait time fees
  • Storage fees
  • Fees from delayed delivery
  • Special auction loading
  • Destination customs or duty fees

Tip: Destination ports have agents that can help you ship your vehicle from the port to your home. Contact the port directly to speak with an agent.

Documentation

International vehicle transport with EasyHaul is simple, and we clear US customs for you. We’ll need a few things from you first. The first and the most important is a valid Title or Certificate of your vehicle which can’t be replaced by any other document.

From our side, you will get the title or certificate via FedEx as soon as your car clears customs. You’ll also get a shipping invoice, a Dock Receipt, and a Bill of Lading before the vehicle reaches the destination port.

Tip: No Bill of Sale, neither Parts Only designation or Lien can replace the vehicle’s Title or Certificate. It’s strongly recommended that you check the availability of these documents before placing a shipping order.
