Import Duties in Belarus

All gas-powered cars imported to Belarus are declared at Customs with a 15% import duty tax and 20% VAT. However, vehicles older than 5 years are subject to taxes which are calculated according to the engine displacement and the vehicle’s price. These taxes vary from 1.5 to 5.7 EUR per cubic centimeter, depending on the car’s age and motor.

Simplified import rules for electric vehicles are in effect in Belarus until December 31st, 2021. In accordance with the government’s initiative on the “promotion of the use of electric vehicles”, these are not subject to duties and customs clearance is free.
